About Our Instructors
What Makes a Great Instructor?
Great instructors are passionate people. They are enthusiastic about what they know, and they want to share it. They are engaged, knowledgeable, energetic, approachable and patient. They listen. They are curious and creative. They challenge. They inspire. And they know how (and when) to stand back and let learners learn. Because great instructors are themselves great students.
NECI's instructors have been students in law, procurement and contract management, negotiations, project and risk management, leadership, strategic planning, mediation, alternative service delivery, and financial and business analysis.
Who Grades Our Instructors?
NECI has a rigorous program for screening and prequalifying instructors for their instructional expertise, knowledge and experience. All instructors must be approved by NECI's Director of Educational Services and by the B.C. government's Public Service Agency. Instructors must then be approved by their students, receiving post-course evaluation scores of more than 4 out of 5.
How We Keep the Bar High
NECI monitors all instructor evaluations each month, and reviews each instructor's performance on a yearly basis. For instructors to continue teaching for NECI, their student evaluations must consistently exceed 4.
