PSPP 301: Procurement Practice – Putting it all Together

Description

Building on the skills and knowledge gained through levels 1 and 2, this interactive, peer-to-peer, online course incorporates threaded discussions on current case examples and topics, to expand understanding and solidify key points.  There are two individual assignments to be completed and submitted, and participation in the threaded discussion will contribute to participants’ overall marks for the course.  Spanning four weeks, participants will be expected to spend 7 to 8 hours per week, and complete this session alongside a regular workload, therefore learning how to budget time, and make the most use of the examples and illustrations that have been worked with throughout the program.

  • Readings, threaded (asynchronous) discussions and assignments that reinforce key points learned through levels 1 and 2 and expand understanding of the role of public-sector procurement professionals
  • Advanced procurement strategies, the most recent case law and practical developments in procurement practice
  • Peer- to-peer interaction, networking and sharing of best practices

Learning Objectives

  • Demonstrate understanding of key components of each of the steps in the procurement and contract management cycle
  • Practice skills gained through level 1 and 2 of the PSPP through interactive discussions and written assignments
  • Understand advanced procurement strategies and how they are being used by progressive public-sector organizations in Canada
  • Identify developments in procurement and contract law that affect organizational processes and practices
  • Learn how to function in a group environment and work effectively with peers
  • Identify networking and continuing education opportunities

Expected Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will have the necessary knowledge and tools to perform effectively during all phases of the procurement and contract management cycle. They will have reviewed and reflected on the key concepts covered during each step of the cycle and practiced the skills learned in levels 1 and 2 through interactive discussions and written assignments. Participants will receive their Public Sector Procurement Professional certificate.
